King of the Field

This is definitely one of my favorite little sketches. Anyone who has known me long knows of my long standing love affair with the daisy. He's the king of the wide open field. A weed that has grown and blows and sways with the toughest wind, but is not shaken. "To me the meanest flower that blows can give thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears." ~ William Wordsworth

Much Better

This was a little flower from a wild strawberry plant. I had to lay on my belly in the back yard to get a good look at it! And what I learned from this was, just because the flower is tiny, doesn't mean my drawing has to be. The real drawing isn't much more than half an inch wide. But, it's all a learning process.

First Attempt at Drawing .... Hmmm - Very So So

So this was my first attempt at drawing after about a 10 year break. It was nice to know I could still do it, but definately showed how much work I needed. This was a Daisy bud that only had the green leaves and tiny yellow "worms" of newly forming pedals. Fortunately the sketches that follow are better!
